Tuesday, June 11th. Fourth of Exploration. The mayan gods smiled on us as the rain cleared from the day before. This fourth day went better then we hoped for. Everyone is now in the "groove". Basecamp is still running well. Spirits are up with the food improvements. Buddy Quattlbaum was still doing his best at setting everything up and showing that he is indeed a class act. I studied Rosemary's map of all the lines that have been installed. She announced as of Sunday night we have put in 23,700 feet of line. Tuesday we added 4200 feet of line with all of our teams. Bill Dooley really delivered, going 3700 feet on a double stage. He made each stage bottle last 900 feet, at an average depth of 10 feet. His experience as a cave instructor and explorer shine through and his professionalism can not be beat. Ed Grossenbacher of Austin, Texas is still out. He's an ex-student of Jim Bowdens, what more needs to be said? "Frontierland" was hit by Paul Heinerth and Jill Rabjohn. They added 327 feet and finished up with only 25 minutes of deco from this 30 foot dive. Brian Kukak acted as an in cave "sherpa" carrying "bail out bottles" a distance of 1700 until he hit thirds in his doubles. Where he turned there was a dirt floor at a maximum depth of 12 feet. We hope to find another Cenote there, our Mayan workers are ready to cut the trail for us! Bill Reinnaker is working on a new tunnel named "Dos Pendejos" because of a large boulder hanging down in the center of the room that looks similar to a pendulum. Concentration was poor from the two teams of divers we had at Kentucky Castle. Tensions were still running high because of my temper tantrum yesterday. I don't think these guys are going to continue to help out because of my actions. I will talk to them tonight at the bar where we have been doing our debriefings. Things are going great! We are now at 140,500 feet approximate total for DOS OJOS (systema el jido jacinto grande juevos pat). You never now whats going to happen next. That's the game of exploration - You never know until you go. Tomorrow I will post another report. Out of time. I want to thank Tom Mount for his contributions, especially loaning us Jim so we can help get the right count next time. Thanks for all of the support! Be Safe, STEVE GERRARD
