> This is a classic! Enjoy ... > Fire authorities in California found a corpse in a burnt out section ... > You guessed it!!! One minute our diver was making like Flipper in > the Pacific, the next he was doing a breaststroke in a fire bucket >>Not again? For the last time, this is an *URBAN LEGEND*. >>Since the water bomber water scoops are less than 30 cm wide, the >>only diver that could be scooped up are either Troy Tempest or G.I. >>Joe. I have been reading this nonsense for 3 years. Ever since I heard that the scoops were less than 30 cm wide, I wrote the whole thing off to URBAN LEGEND like many others did. That was until I discovered that a couple of friends are in the National Guard and have been training for firefighting. They use helicopters to get the water and the device they actually carry the water in could easily take in and hold your average sized diver. Now they claimed that they would see the person before they dropped the water but they have only done this under training conditions, not with an actual fire. They also said that they only scoop water from fresh water lakes and ponds located on military bases. I'm doing some rethinking about this whole thing. I don't believe that the incident has ever actually happened but I'm coming aroud to believing that it could happen... Bill VanderClock
