WORLD'S FIRST UNDERWATER MARATHON 24 MILES ACROSS LAKE PONCHARTRAIN Dedicated as: (UNDERWATER Mosquito Indian MARATHON) A fund-raiser scheduled for June 12, 1996 for the on going Central American projects to help assist and treat the native lobster divers in the Central American Caribbean region. A pledge per-mile benefit race. It will be a major media event complete with national TV coverage. The project already has delivered and installed a decompression chamber in Kalquira, Honduras. Across from Puerto Limpira.(the South east coner of the country) This is a massive effort for a small organization such as SOS (Sub Ocean Saftey) President, Robert Izdepski has united some of the world best known authorities to assist him and form part of the board of directors. An all volunteer board further adds that the monies that are contributed and raised is not used to pay high saleries and lavish business relations, but, ear marked for the equipment purchases directly related to helping this cause and for travel expenses in visiting these regions and making formal contact with the officials. SOS Ocean Ocean Saftey's emergency medical relief projects and educational efforts which focus on the impact of "new scuba and hooka technoiogies on indigenous diver/fishermen the world over. Because of lack of diver education, these compressed air tehnologies are the cause of worldwide epidemic of paralytic bends. This UNIQUE marathon is open to all extreme athletes who wish to enter and assume risk responsibility for their own actions.
