Hey man why don't you save yourself some time and embarrassment and 
purchase a basic PADI or NAUI manual (that will cover the questions you 
have asked so far). After you have read that cover to cover and memorized 
it, then purchase their advanced manuals. After reading and memorizing 
those, purchase John Lipmann's *The Essentials of Deeper Sport Diving*. 
You sound like an accident about to happen.
