About a year ago I had a fairly long chat with the prsresident of a major scuba formirm about this subject. Basicly what he said was that higher percentages of O2 have the protential to increase degrading of o-rings. He suggested an increased maint schedule on their products for this reason. He said that because of this the lawyers had advised them not to "cert" their regs for Nitrox use by building a "Nitrox Reg". It was an accecptable risk to offer O2 kits, but not to place say a green nitrox face plate on the reg. I've had shorter conversations with a couple of other presidents and all of them basicly have the same view on the subject,. In fact several stated candidly that one mfr in particular was nuts for building a Nitrox Reg, that it was like waving a red flag in the face of some lawyer!
