thought I'd pass this query along to the techies michael haring@ha*.ed* ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 3 May 1996 06:31:05 -1000 From: Lorne Clayton <claytonisg@pa*.ne*> To: Multiple recipients of list <aqua-l@up*.ca*> Subject: Benthic Infauna Sampling Greetings: This question may be more correctly directed, however, perhaps any recepient could pass along to any associate that might have feed back. RE: SCUBA sampling of substrate for infauna analysis Does anyone know of an accepted method for diver sampling of sand substrate in place of mechanical grab sampling? We are interested in sampling underwater sandy substrate for analysis of potential predators (such as worms, etc; probably over 1 mm in size.)of a deepwater clam we are culturing. We will be diving at the sites frequently and would like to avoid handling of the heavy grabs apparently necessary for sampling in sand. Any Thoughts? Thanks for your input IEC W. E.
