What is a 'natural law?  Sounds like an oxymoron.  We don't have laws, we 
only have models, since I can't think of any natural phenomena which has 
been completely described.

Chaos Theory, Fuzzy Logic, Fractal Theory and other new ways of modelling 
natural and artificial phenomena are powerful tools.  They should not be 
discarded out of hand because they are mentioned in a couple of SciFi 
stories or form the basis of the control system in a washing machine.
