Primary reel carried for delayed SMB, distance line etc. Secondary smaller reel
which can easily fit into a pocket or be attached to your BCD somewhere out of
the way for wreck penetration, extending primary reel if used as a distance line
on the bottom, back up to your primary if for some reason you lose it.
Redundancy is as far as you want to take it. Carrying a small second reel is
minor compared to some of the kit you see people taking in.
