Jesus you guys! I go away for a week of diving on the Big Island and look what happens! 270 messages in my inbox! I'm not sure what's more rediculous: Carl's original post, or the fact that so many people fell for it. Even Volker went for it hook, line and sinker, and he's ususally pretty sharp. I almost believed it myself until I heard how hard Bill laughed when I asked him about it. For the perpetually clueless - the entire thing is a total fabrication. I just hope it was more about earning sushi than it was an actual attempt to discredit Stone/King/et al. Now, on to more interesting things - I just spent a *wonderful* week 'breather diving on the Kona Coast of Hawaii. For those of you who have never been there, the topography towards the southern end starts at the surface and ends about 15,000 feet down. I only played around in the upper 400 feet or so, but I saw a wide array of very interesting fish-type-things, and collected a couple of rare species. Each time I descended below about 380 feet, my hands felt slightly shakey. The descents were usually very rapid, and my PN2 was about 2.5 atm. I'm starting to suspect that it might be proto-HPNS, but it seems awfully shallow to me (relatively speaking) for such symptoms. Does anybody on this list know how shallow HPNS has been documented? I can always add more nitrogen if it becomes a problem, but I'd rather stay as frosty as possible. Aloha, Rich
