I am very concerned with the recent chain of events regarding the WKPP vs. King and his group here in Florida. These guys (King and company) seem to be causing a rukus with the powers that be. It is important for all of us to understand that if we write letters to the state officials supporting the WKPP, we may be looked at like crybabies also. We do not want anything to backfire. They may feel that if these two groups and their supporters can't get along, then neither has the best interests of the State in mind. They might pull everyone's permit. Lets be careful in what we do. It seems to me that the big issue with these guys is saying that they have a better way - as we all know they do not. Thetr actions will arouse suspicion as to the safety of what the WKPP is doing. We all know that scuba diving is far from safe except for fish. We could all(cave divers) end up out in the cold thanks to Jim King and Bill Stone. WKPP has been doing a job that is making cave diving look usefull and good, these guys are rolling the dice. Perhaps it's time for all of us to take the bull by the horns and let King and Stone know how we feel. Let's write, call and tell them that the caving community in Florida and elsewhere does not support or condone their intentions. Let's let the magazines and Journals know where we stand, and what we think. Time is short and the caves few. Michael J.
