I still have some general questions which should, once and for all, show
exactly how much I don't know about tanks:

1. Why is it that the LP tanks are thicker, heavier, (stronger?), and are
actually rated to be overfilled beyond the rated pressure, unlike the HP
tanks? This overfill rating is, in turn, exceeded by most active technical
divers, I believe. It just defies logic that I can get better performance
out of a LP tank. Is this like the stereo mfrs. saying "our amp puts out
300 watts music power" when it's about 50 watts RMS? Is this what Sherwood
has done in order to hype their product?

2. There is a dive shop in Marathon that refuses to touch anything steel.
The owner berated me rudely for not using AL. He is afraid, very afraid, of
steel and has a "failed" steel tank cross-section hung on the wall for
effect. I laughed at his stupidity and he at mine. Who is dumber? (I'm
kidding. I know the answer to this one.)

3. I'd like to solicit more detailed explanations of what it is about 104s
that make them so completely superior to every other tank. And, yes, I've
been reading the thread. "Bouyancy is perfect." Why? Why is -9 lbs. empty
better than -13 or -2? Is it a big deal only for caving or do the
advantages apply to other types of diving as well?

Use humor, sarcasm, flames, and insults--whatever you want. But please have
a clue.
