Regarding Bill Stone's article "Designing a Fully Redundant Life Support System" in AquaCorps N12... Is this anything new, or is it (complete redundancy) something found in all rebreathers? In designing a system in which any system component can fail and be sufficiently backed up so as to cause neither a mission failure or a system failure, it would seem that the intent is to increase the safety of the CCR system, but would the inherent complexity in such a design not be in itself a hazard? Has anyone on the list received training on the Cis-Lunar units that can attest to their complexity, and whether or not the complete system redundancy is justified? As a side note, what are the most significant changes in the MK V unit from the MK IV? -Sean
