Hopefully I'm not missing someting blindingly obvious here, I'm not a caver, but I'm wondering why the hogarthian cave setup never includes those octopus/BC inflater combos like the AIR2 in place of the backup reg tied around the neck with surgical tubing. Is it because the reliability or performance of these regulators is suspect? Or, is there something about the configuration that makes these regulators unacceptable, e.g. difficulties operating the BC while breathing through the regulator? I'm slowly adapting more of the hogarthian setup for general open water diving and I'm wondering if there's a good argument for tossing the AIR2 with my next BC and securing a backup reg to my neck caver style.
