Subject: Blow and Go---out of context/Appology to J. Kellon
Cc: "George M. Irvine III" <gmiiii@in*.co*>,
Apparently I have taken a few things out of context, and unintentionally
placed some of my views along with a conversation which was not directly
suporting the conclusions I reached on my last posts.
To set the record straight,
1). Blow and Go was my figure of speech, which I used to describe traveling
from 10 ata to 6 ata....Jack Kellon just indicated that the transition
should not be a slow one , and getting to the gas switch was a primary
concern. Jack did not use the term BLOW and GO. I did. And I used the
technique for many years.

2). While in our discussion (Jack's and mine), Morgan Well's name came up a
number of times in the conceptual part of the delta P aspect of the
discussion... I should not be including ANY ideas about decompression
theory as having been discussed with Morgan Wells, since Dr. Wells was Not
in this discussion with me .

3.)My interests in the thread which recently developed into this "Blow and
Go" discussion, were toward finding a better way for us to plan deco, based
on our individual gas exchange capabilities. My use of Jack's name was not
to support my ideas about fit versus unfit divers, it was to stimulate
discussion in another area where it seemed a wealth of decompression theory
was developing. I appologize again to Jack for taking him out of context,
and hopefully he will decide to share his ideas on delta P and gas switching
with the list.

>In my haste to point out a different viewpoint and get back to work, I
neglected to mention that "THE REASON" that Kellon and the others would
suggset the "Blow and Go" approach is to get from 10 ata to 6 ata quickly,
where they can do a gas switch, i.e., Nitrox.

At 6 ata , a high ppO2 mix can now begin a
 more efficient offgassing ...

... The higher saturation attained in a slow initial ascent will do more
harm in delaying the gas switch which would occur at 6ata.. My apologies to
Jack for the omission.
