> Rich, the preoccupation with dpeth is killing people, and it is the real > assholes of diving who promote this. Perhaps you should explain to your museum > that the new interest in technical diving is being misdirectied by clowns like > "Mr Scuba" and other insideous strokes who think that depth is an achievement. You have to understand that I am a biologist, and as a biologist my greatest concern in life is the growing population of humans on this planet. Thus, I am not concerned about preventing the deaths of pinheads who might be stupid enough to look at my email address, and thereby decide to make a dive to depths beyond their capabilities. Hell, if they die before they have any kids, then it's a double bonus because 1) they leave no innocent orphans, and 2) natural selection is working. Besides, there are too many people out there who don't give a rip about diving who communicate to me via email, and I'm not going to change my address and have to tell all these people my new address, just because the word "deep" in my account name is an evil thing on the diving lists. I'd sooner drop out of the email lists. > Funny we don't ever see these big timers in Tallahasse, but then you don't > get to bounce down and back up and claim to be on equal footing there, you > actually have to know something, be prepared, and do the homework - too much > trouble for the "DEEPS". What about Win - he has "deep" in both his email address and his magazine name. Is he in the same category? I don't think so. > I think it is the responsiblilty of those or us who really know and do this > stuff to focus on doing it right, not how deep we went. Technical diving is > optimal diving, not how deep. I TOTALLY agree -- unless you extend it to say that those who do it "right" have a responsibility to make sure others do it "right" as well, in which case I would say you're full of shit. As divers, we have only one responsibility... ******************************************************************* "WHATEVER happens to you when you willingly go underwater is COMPLETELY and ENTIRELY your own responsibility! If you cannot accept this responsibility, stay out of the water!" *******************************************************************
