Gang A bit late for a response, but I just got back from Cuba. Gas consumption was the one thing I figured I could work on during my trip. And since there were gains demonstrated, I though I would add to the conversation. Prior to the trip, I simply started thinking about my breathing. Whenever I took a concentration break at work, I would think about my breathing rate and depth. My normal consumption prior to the trip was 0.56 cuft/min. Normally I would start out a dive series at about 0.62 cuft/min, and be down to 0.56 within one or two days. At the start of this trip, the first dive was 0.56 cuft/min. The last dive was .51 cuft/min. Still the same gains over the period of the trip, but with an additional 10% improvement. The major flaw in my calculations is that I have not been diving with a computer long enough to have a lot of historical data. It is my feeling that the overall gains were due to the visualization technique. The gains from day 1 to day 6 were probably due to getting the weight belt right. For people who dive regularly, they are probably already conscious of thier breathing. For people such as myself who dive irregularly during the winter, it appears to be valuable to do some desk-diving. ttfn David Pearson
