Thanks, Eric, yes that's what I was thinking - but it sounds much more 
intelligent coming from you! Perhaps because, unlike me, you actually 
understand what you are talking about? :-)

My main point, I guess, is that we can spec'alate 'till the cows come home
about specific physiological mechanisms and how they relate to DCI 
probability, but if all those discussions are couched in the context of 
compartment-based models as the "true" explanation of what''s going on, 
then we may be deluding ourselves.
