He's not certain how much practice the critters have at avoiding large stationary objects (like a diver) in the middle of their feeding frenzy (seeing as they're generally pelagic species and all). > BTW, what are FADs? Fish Aggregation Devices (or Fishermen "Aggrevation" Devices) - they are buoys anchored by a long chain in deep (~2,000 feet) water. Some are at the surface, others about 60 feet below the surface.
