I would like to point out that there is a distinction between what you can
reasonably do yourself and what you can sell to others.

Anyone who advocates using equipment in any manner other than the uses as
permitted by the manufacturer is personally assuming liability in the event
that something goes wrong.

With the society in this country so "lawsuit happy", I will remind you that
even the slightest indication that you MIGHT have had some responsibility is
sufficient grounds to force you the expense of defending your actions, even if
they were really OK.

AFAIK, most manufacturers of scuba regulators have explicitly stated that
their devices are for use with AIR ONLY.

Now you and I both know that there is seldom anything in the design that
precludes the safe useage with enriched air or other gas mixtures. But that,
generally, is not what the manufacturer is warranting.

There is one aspect of the Federal regulations that must also be considered.
Normally, any "business" aspects of diving are covered by very strict OSHA
regulations. There is a specific waiver for recreational scuba with respect to
the use of compressed air.
