This is a little off-topic, but not too far.  Maybe.

I'm back.  The doctors didn't kill me, the nurses didn't kill me, the
physical terrorists didn't kill me, and the hospital food didn't kill me. 
(It was a close call on the last one; I must have some good karma saved up
from something, I have no earthly idea what.)

I can now tell anyone who wants to know that having the SECOND hip replaced
is apparently nowhere near as bad as having the first one replaced.  (Or
maybe it just has something to do with being in comparatively better
condition when I went in for the second one.)
