Welcome to the TechDiver Mailing list, TechDiver@opal.com.

This list exists to support the Technical Diving Community on the
Internet. Topics of discussion include:

	- SAFETY in extended exposure dives
		- long duration diving
		- deep diving
	- wreck penetration diving
	- cave diving
	- NITROX
	- TRIMIX and other Mixed Gases
	- specialized equipment, including
		- communications equipment
		- high-performance regulators
		- rebreathers
	- technical training facilities
	- specialized techniques
	- etc

The TechDiver list is for people new at technical diving, as much as it
is for experienced technical divers.  If you're new at this, and are
joining to find out more, you'll do well to send out a message to the
group to say so.  That way, you'll get others to respond with things
that are directly of interest to you.  To send a message to the list,

How about sending your first message to the list to introduce yourself
to the group and to let everyone know what your areas of interest are,
and perhaps also your level of experience.  Thanks, and enjoy the list.

PLEASE NOTE THAT READING SOMETHING ON THIS LIST IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR
TRAINING IN THE SUBJECT.  MUCH OF THE DISCUSSION ON THIS LIST PERTAINS
TO DIVING PRACTICES THAT ARE BEYOND THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CONVENTIONAL
RECREATIONAL DIVING.  SPECIALIZED TRAINING IS AVAILABLE FOR TECHNICAL
DIVERS. PRACTICES LEARNED FROM THIS LIST SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED WITHOUT
SUCH TRAINING.  IF YOU ARE UNSURE WHERE YOU CAN OBTAIN TECHNICAL

The TechDiver list is maintained by a server program.  You can use the
server to access the List Archive, to see who's on the list, or to
unsubscribe from the list.  Before starting a new discussion on the list,
you'd do well to check the archive to see if a similar thread has been
discussed before.  For a full explanation of the server's commands, send a

Opal Gopher.  Gopher to gopher.opal.com, port 70, and go from there.
