I tried them out. Several things hit me as I used them for a dive. I agree they feel strange. "Sculling" they are bad. I really can't hold a good position. Terrible when you are trying to get back on the boat. Also, (their worst feature) in unusual attitudes they didn't give me "roll" control. As I rolled to my side, I didn't seem to have any control. I couldn't hold myself rolled to one side. I liked them swimming straight ahead. I actually could get quite a bit of speed out of them, but it was a really strange short kick cycle. IMHO, not worth the $$$. ---------- From: hammond@pe*.EN*.de*.co*[SMTP:hammond@peek.ENET.dec.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 1996 5:57 AM To: techdiver@terra.net; techdiver@terra.net Subject: RE: Force Fins My experience (on use) with force fins provides the following data point: o They ARE easy to walk in -- So, if you buy fins for the performance on land.... o They feel strange when swiming -- probably would get used to this. o They don't eliminate cramps -- I got a cramp and have heard of others with the same experience. o They don't provide the same level of "full power" when catching up with other divers, swiming agains current, or possting youself back into the dive boat. Opinon: They have excellent marketing. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@terra.net'. Send subscription/archive requests to `techdiver-request@terra.net'.
