Rich,

I know that many (if not most) agree anymore that HPNS is a pressure
effect, and not due to helium.  It is just that helium has so little
narcosis (or CNS depressant effects, however you want to state this)
that HPNS was only observed when we were able to get to these depths 
by using helium.  At first these symptoms were attributed directly
to the Helium, thus the original name "helium tremors".
