In the old days before electronic transistors, likely a DIN valve would be the final amplifier valve in overamplified disco equipment that helped all too well to make its infernal DIN for most of the night, until I would want to throw it onto or into something more destructive than a pony cylinder. The tank mentioned would be more advisable than a car to drive in to the site to stop the DIN, when the disco fans get annoyed at their fun being spoilt. :-)
