We are involved in the whole compatability issue in the UK. The industry
representatives (SITA) Scuba Industries Trade Association are discussing
the issue right now.My involvement is via my board position with IANTD
in the UK. As far as adopting any different connections goes the
concensis of opinion is that it will not happen (just look at the wild
variation in european std for compressed gas cylinders) The problem with
this kind of thing is the people on the sub committee's have a vested
interest :-)

Draeger have a proprietary male cylinder connection also.

I'm sure it is, but as far as the UK goes right now it is BS. The whole
problem of Nitrox use is being looked at from completely the wrong
angle. NOBODY has been killed using so called 'dirty' equipment. Deaths
have occured from people breathing the wrong gas at the wrong depth. No
amount of fancy connector will prevent this. (jump in here George).
