Subject: New Member Saying Hi
Hi all!

I am a relative newcomer to the technical scene, having completed my TDI
Extended Range qualification about a year ago when on a wreck hunting expedition
in the Red Sea with Rob Palmer.

I am also a PADI Divemaster and BSAC Advanced Diver, I actually work as a
training manager in an English diving centre.

I have been diving for 3 years now, though I like to think I have achieved more
than the norm in that time frame.

My passion is wreck diving and penetration in the English Channel, and often the
deeper they are the better condition they are in. So at the moment my range is
to 60m, though I am looking to undertake Trimix training shortly to extend my
range and safety at depth.

I am very interested in the developments with rebreathers, though I see thermal
protection developments as having to progress much further to enable full use of
CCR in British Water temperatures.

Another technological development I am interested in is the development of a
diving computer that monitors multiple gas sources for full Technical Diving
applications, I understand from Chris at Abysmal that this is the direction for
their software.

Ambitions ? well, I'd like to do The Blue Holes of Andros especially Stargate
cavern. Still havnt got to Scapa Flow (this year hopefully). I've often wondered
about tech diving in Truk Lagoon wether it is viable (anyone done this?). I'd
also like to get to Canada and do some wrecking with the technical guys out
there (heard that there a tough bunch to crack!). Also like to do ice diving
whilst in that part of the world.

Equipment... I use the proverbial DUI CF200, twin 10ltr 300bar with isolated
manifold and 10ltr 300bar Nitrox stage bottle. I also use Zeagle Twin Wings
7700Rs. And I'm looking to buy 2 x Dive Rite MR11 50W helmet mount lights (any
comments on this would be greatly received). This coming season I'm going to add
Argon suit inflation to the configuration as my hangs last up to 2 hours and in
16 C It gets cold to say the least.

I'm keen to hear from any UK based tech divers who go out from the South Coast
for this coming season.

Well that about wraps it up.

Best regards and wishing you all great diving wherever you are.

Lawrence Orchard
