The main reason for having a buddy does not have to do with air supply. a buddy's real purpose is to assist in situations were you need another person, not another reg. e.g - if someone gets snaged on a net/line/part of a ship. Or if someone get nark'ed to the point of stupidity. As a good example of this: a friend of mine (who -always- has redundant regs/ gas source) had his partner space out while reeling in his line at 160fsw. he had to pull the diver up 20ft before he snapped out of it. This is the purpose of having a buddy - to have a redundant brain and pair of hands, not gas supply. you -should- have your own redundant gas & hardware. Cheers, Slayer
