(1) Which rebreather absorbents can be regenerated by heating? How much do they cost? Could this heating be done over a wood fire under remote expedition conditions? How many regenerations are they usable for? (2) Cost of rebreather diving: if an oxygen rebreather's absorbent canister can be refilled by its owner, how much will it cost for oxygen and absorbent in $ per hour diving, compared with an air aqualung? (3) Carmellan (who made the SMS2000 automatic mixture rebreather in England) spoke of military rebreathers with a 24-hour duration. How heavy and bulky would (a) an automatic mixture rebreather, (b) an oxygen rebreather, have to be for that duration? I don't want to stay underwater for 24 hours at a stretch; but it would be useful for several short dives without having to carry many spare aqualung cylinders about or to have to fiddle about in diving site conditions or on a small boat changing cylinders and absorbent canisters.
