Subject: Re: Long Hose Methods
I'm sure I'll get roasted for this...(hopefully Carl has had a bit of a
snooze, and is in a happier frame of mind((just kidding!!)))
I breathe from the long hose, but keep the extra length stuffed along
the (under) side of one of my twins.
My alternate is resting in a bungee loop below my throat.
I don't see much risk of the long hose getting mashed by boat, wreck or
rock, as it is not lying on the outside edge of the tank. The BC is in a
far more exposed position (likewise my head!).
If my buddy needs air, he can have my primary. Since he's my buddy, he
knows about the extra length, and if I don't unstow it, he can (not that
it's difficult OR time consuming).
If someone I don't know needs air, he can still have my primary, and (as
happened last weekend), it doesn't matter if it gets unstowed or not.
Although there are some ideas that are obviously unworkable, there are
plenty that have to be tried out before I can tell if they are any good
or not. This list is great for getting ideas and experience from other
divers. This gear-rigging thread has been pretty interesting so far.
