Bernie: I opted to breathe the long hose routed a la Bill Hogarth Main with
some reluctance...However, I was diving a local wreck (the North Wind 140
feet deep, North Channel of Lake Huron, lots of multi-level penetration,
shitty vis). Deep inside the aft cabins a member of another buddy team!
appeared from out of a cloud of silt and went directly for the reg in my
mouth. I ducked my head, gave a little twist and a push and put my second
reg in my mouth. At this point the out of air diver had something to
breathe, I was far enough away from him to control the situation (read
defend myself), and we were able to start the swim out in some sort of
organized fashion, except I decided to leave my reel 'til the following
day! If my hose had been stuffed and that guy had felt me tugging at it to
pull it free, I believe he would have had a shit fit and we could both
still be in there...

Some people have told me that "rigging your gear that way'll get you killed
up here in the Great Lakes." But it works for me.
