Looking through the techdiver archives I came across this post which raised some questions in my mind about regulator adjustment. Since I've started adjusting my personal regulators I try to set up my primary for minimum breathing effort. This means 145psi intermediate pressure and the second stage set up so that its just a touch away from where it free flows. Reading the post below, I get the impression that for deep or cold water diving a person would want to set things up for more breathing resistance (?!). Is this true, or am I misreading things? I'd be interested in hearing comments from some of the participants of this list on how a primary regulator should be set up for different conditions, and why. I think one one the main > reasons people are having so many problems with their regulators is that > the factory adjust them for easy caribbean diving instead of cold deep > water diving.
