Subject: How to insure msg validity
Well, eventually I think that for any important messages (involving
contractual or monetary issues) that people will just start using PGP.
If I add my PGP signature at the bottom there is no way anyone can
reasonably fake it. Yes, useing a multiple bank of Crays you could
eventually crack the code. The cost of the CPU time would probably be
more than what you'd want to pay.
I think it's just a matter of time before mailers have integrated PGP
(for the initiated thats Pretty Good Privacy). I don't see the host
systems being modified to prevent spoofing. My particular mailer
authenticates the host sending the message (i.e if it says FROM
netcom.com then it asks the server who it is and compares.

The real issue here is that we ALL need to be aware of how easy it is to
spoof an address and that we should keep that in mind when an "abnormal"
message comes across.
