George, You'd be surprised what I understand. I think there's a real possibility that _you_ don't understand what I'm about, especially when you suggest that I don't know anything about this sport--too bad too, your loss. Now about CIS, you're having trouble, eh? Hmmm . . . if you want the help I'm offering and if you're not just spouting off about CIS to be a PITA, then I'd be glad to help you resolve your problems. Thousands of folks access CIS everyday with no problems whatsoever. My access is pure simplicity: I turn on my computer, I press a single button and my computer connects with CIS, navigates automatically through all the Forums I have an interest in, downloads weather, stocks, news stories, whatever I have an interest in, collects all my E-mail (separates Internet--including Techdiver and Cavers--mail from CIS mail and gives me Internet headers only and full-text "local" mail) and then signs off--all in about 2-5 minutes! After doing all this it arranges all these messages and info into labeled files which I can choose to read at my convenience. Again, it's a mouse click or a single keystroke. Answering is simplicity itself and I can import quotes, addresses or whatever into the response and readdress it to multiple recipients or it will automatically fill in whatever address is on the header if I wish--again, often single keystrokes! This is not rocket science. Techdiver is simply another section of my automated Internet access made possible through CIS. There are limits to the Internet access, so I have a local server for more complete service access. But for CIS access, my navigator is a breeze. Of course there are other options, you're probably accessing in terminal mode or something similar and through some arcane gateway, so I suggest that you come into the 90s and try out the real thing! Send me a description (E-mail if you like) about how you access CIS and your problems and we'll see if we can't make it easier, cheaper and more productive for you. Now about your time in caving and your pecker contest mentality. I don't care about your time in caving if you wish to keep it secret, so be it--it was an innocent question. As for your challenge, well, I'd be glad to come see what you do if you're inviting me and perhaps you can see if I'm what you think I am at the same time. I think good cave diving isn't just jumping on a scooter and grabbing a bottle of mix and cruising big passage. Good cave diving incorporates all of the diver's techniques for tight passage in zero flow and heavy silting--and every other condition. In those conditions I'll put my skills up against yours any day. As for the scootering in deep and big stuff, well, I'm sure the skills required for that are important too and perhaps when I finish my Trimix training I'll take you up on that as well--that is if you're not afraid. <g> Point is, I'm a good cave diver, I don't claim to be great, but I love this sport and I am active in it. I've been caving in many systems in four countries and have yet to hear a complaint about my abilities. The biggest difference between you and I is that I like to know what I'm talking about, so I won't comment on your abilities without knowing something about you--you on the other hand obviously never let ignorance stand in your way! If you'd like to know what you're talking about (for a change) and not just spout off at the lips then you're always welcome to come diving with me--OR--I'd be glad to join you as a support diver in your projects--someday. I can take it if you can. In the meantime, don't drop your hat, your horse will shit in it. JoeL
