We all went diving today on the Reef Cat (Ocean Diving, Pompano - Jim Mims) . For you frozen Northerners, the water was blue with 150 foot vis, and 75 degree temp, there was no current, and we did a huge freighter called the Mazon (454 feet with railroad cars in the cargo holds). Obie One had a class, and Bill Mee and I went along. Mims fired a hook on a ball, and then dropped everyone at once, with Mount scheduled to pull the hook after 30 minutes. Bill and I scootered to two other wrecks about a thousand feet away, in to the reef, and back out to some wreckage offshore of the main wreck before returning to the wreck in time for Tom to get his people back up. Lots of fun, and it was interesting to watch Tom handle a group of students at 200 feet the way a 30 foot dive class would go off - no sweat. These people were workng gas, stages, drysuits, and conducting drills - pretty impressive for dive students. I wanted to go yank the reg out of one of their mouths, but I could not do it with a "straight" face, so Bill and I did the drill ourselves, and then went on . Just to maintain my reputation as a bad boy, I did ask on of them if he had seen the front page of the New York Times the day after the Trade Center bombing, and told him that was what his gear looked like. - G
