Oceanic makes a tiny (really tiny!) hoseless SPG. It's a little bigger than the plug you remove from the high pressure port and is about 0.3 cm across. It has some numbers on the face (it's glass) that give you a general idea of 1000, 2000, 3000 psi. It costs about $35. I use it to tell that I have a full tank attached to me my reg when I have my hoseless wrist mount computer at a distance. I suppose you could also use it to roughly determine the contents of a pony bottle. I don't think that you could easily read it underwater - even with bifocals. Now if Cochran's DiveMaster unit was just able to read those little Uwatec tank transmitters, you could switch readings between up to ten stages/tanks. But in a perfect world, pigs etc...
