I couldn't agree with you more. Time and again I have seen
"dive couples" where more often than not, she was completely
out of her element, doing a dive just to please her mate.
subsequently subject to mishaps and accidents. As a female
diver (wanting to work in underwater research), I think in many cases I am
safer than a comparable male diver. My experience with the group, "divers"
has been that more men violate or stretch the rules than females; I won't
dive with many men (my boyfriend included) solely
because they are, IMHO, unsafe. but then there *are* more male (technical)
divers than there are female.
