There are still a hell of a lot more men than women diving worldwide ... so 
what a big suprise that would be then!

I would suspect that, were the numbers available, dive-for-dive women may be 
at least as likely as men to be involved in a serious incident.

I would guess that any excess incident rate could be due to an element of 
"Rambo and the Mouse" type female divers who have felt/been cajoled into it 
(yes there are men in the same situation but MUCH rarer) by thier partners.

This is not intended as a judgment of male/female innate ability ... just an 
observation ...
