More info has now reached me concerning the dec 2 accident at Landsort in the Stockholm archipelago. Apparently, several buddy pairs were exploring the wreck of "Paula (something)" just off the eastern harbour at Landsort. The ship lies with the stern end lower than the bow, depth ranges from 115 to maybe 165 fsw. One diver signalled his buddy "thumbs up" indicating he wanted to surface. His buddy then began swimming toward the bow where a line is attached to a surface bouy (sp?) However, before they reached the line the diver in distress again signalled that he wanted to ascend. The pair started their ascent (apparently not using the line) but sometime during the ascent the buddy lost contact with his mate. A search operation is in progress and will continue a few more days. The visibility is excellent, maybe 25 ft, the current in the area is weak but the lost diver has not been recovered. The missing diver had logged some 300 dives. I'll get back if any new info becomes available /RS (o o) +------------------------------oOO--(_)--OOo-----------------------------+ | Richard Soderberg, MD, PADI DM | The Karolinska Institute | | Systems analyst | MIC-KIBIC | | Voice#: +46 8 728 80 00 | Library and | | Fax# : +46 8 33 04 81 | Medical Information Center | | Snail : PO Box 200 | Doktorsringen 21 C, | | S-177 77 Stockholm | S-104 01 Stockholm | | Email :richard.soderberg@mi*.ki*.se* | SWEDEN | +------------------------------------+-----------------------------------+
