I use a Nikonos V quite a lot while diving in McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. 
Water temp usually around -1.4C or so.  Haven't had any problems related to
the cold.  I keep an eye on the batteries but really don't find they crap out
all that quickly even at these temps.  Will get half a dozen rolls of film out
of a battery.  I use the cameras both manually and with TTL flash.
