Subject: question about cns clock recovery
I have a basic Nitrox question that I wonder if someone could answer. I'm
currently taking the (first) IANTD EANx course and I don't understand their
(or is it NOAA's?) recommended procedure for resetting the CNS clock.

The EANx student manual and workbook (3rd ed, 1/94), states:
Refering to the NOAA O2 exposure limits, "If one of more dives within a 24
hour period has reached or exceeded the limits for a normal single
exposure, the diver must spend a minimum of two hours at a normoxic PO2
before diving again. If one of more dives within a 24 hour period have
reached the maximum total 24 hour day limits, the diver must spend a
minimum of 12 hours at a normoxic PO2 before diving again."
What I'm wondering is, where does the 24 hour period begin or end? What
happens if I exceed the limits over 2 dives within 24 hours, and sit out my
two hour normoxic interval? How do I track myself then?

I searched the archives and came up with suggestions that halftimes between
75 and 90 minutes be used to relax the clock. A halftime based decay
calculation, while not that difficult, seems out of spirit with the fairly
simple techniques that IANTD is describing above. Is there a procedure
compatible with IANTD's guidelines described above?

Oliver
