The post to which the SPG is (was) attached. Actually, what you've just made is the case for all divers in a team being *thoroughly* familiar with each others' gear configuration. This is independent of any *specific* choice of gear configuration. Obviously, identical gear rigging will facilitate this, but it is not an absolute requirement. And as a side note - if both divers were on independents, then the diver with the blown hose does not *have* to turn to his buddy for help, and the buddy does not have to shut down *anything*. In fact, the buddy's only required response to the above situation would be to signal back "OK" to the indication that dive is now being turned. -JimG (who sees advantages and disadvantages to both choices)
