While at times it may seem to a bit confusing, RMV is often expressed as
respiratory minute volume but it is measured while at rest. RMV is then
mulitplied by the depth (ATA), duration of the dive and the work load.

RMV X ATA x Time X Work load = Gas needed or used.

A more accurate useage that is less confusing would be; actual cubic
foot per minute (acfm) actual cubic foot per minute).
