Andy, Hogarth is Bill Main. He is one of our divers, and
along with Bill Gavin developed our gear configuration, known
as "Hogarthian" in the US cave-diving community.

This is best described as a "less is best" , buddy is your
redundency concept, something you Brits may find amusing. For
us , it is the only way to get the job done.

There are many divers on here who use this system, I will
leave it to them to describe it to you. I will mention that Bill
and I dive together only occasionally, but his committment
to staying in shape, and his insistance on perfection in every
aspect of his diving, is why I like to dive with him - he shows
up , and he shows up ready to play.

On a recent dive that Casey, Jarrod and I did, we were late
getting back, and when we approached the final stretch of cave, Main
and Steve Irving were waiting for us with extra gas, in the cave at
250 feet, and had been for thirty minutes. We were glad to see them,
not because anything had gone wrong, but just because we had just
proved that his method of diving is the best - we had just done
6000 feet at 310 on a tripple stage and were coming out with more
than 2000 psi in our hundreds, a tribute to the slickness he taught
us. - G
