First off, I would like to thank all those how have replied to my post regarding the DiveRite vs Zeagle BCD's. In order to shed more light on this subject I guess I should reveal more of my intent. I am a new diver, so to speak, I dove in the military "recreationaly" for some years (4 years or so, off and on). I was never certified!!! I read many books on the sport and was lucky to have some good freinds that were divers. I do not try to justify my position. I realize that there was a risk in what I did, however, there is a BIG risk in driving a car and many people do that with less regard for the danger involved than what I entailed by diving "without a c-card" I do not think that I am an experienced diver by any means, I probably have no more than 70 to 80 dives to my credit and the last time I dove was in 1991. I moved to BC. a few years ago and I have decided to go the "accepted" route. I do not feel that my start to diving was wrong, "at the time there were many of us that did the same thing, doesn't make it right but doesn't make it wrong" but I have decided to get certified anyway. Now... I look upon the people on this list to be folks that have some experience in this field. I am in the market for equipment and I want to do it right the first time. I do not and will not have the luxury of being able to go to Vancouver and try out every piece of equipment that I feel may hold some promise. Therein the reason that I appeal to you folks for some help. I am not going to go blindly into a store and buy the shiney sparkly stuff on the counter. I want to make one purchase per category of equipment and have the chance of getting it right as well as being able to grow with it in the future. Some of you may have answered my post on REC-SCUBA with regards to a query about new equipment for beginners!! I was able to get some good information from people but I must say that most of the responses were of the theme that " if your not a diver now you don't have any idea seperates good from bad. " hell!! I haven't heard of anything so stupid. You don't have to drive a Volvo across the country to know that it's a safe car. I appolagize for going on soo long with this but I thought you guys, and girls, would be able to give me some intelligent information on the subject of gear, I still hope to take advantage of your experience and will use that in my decision prossess. Finally, I know that some of you will KILL me for my past but all I can say, with the utmost of resect is... who taught Jacques Cousteau to dive... Ps. I am going to duck for the incomming missles.. /\ / \/\ "Rage, rage, against Randy Johnston /\ / / \ the dying of the light."
