Tod, I use to be a NSS/CDS Full Cave Instructor and I also own Madison Blue
Springs (a premier cave system).

I have been cave diving in N. Fla. since I was 14 (before they had a card),
I am now 38. Please let me offer you a little inside advice. Be true with
yourself as to "why" you want to become a "cave diver" (i.e.) magazine
hop-la, maybe to impress your friends, girlfriend/wife, dive buddies, self
ego, etc......... If you answered "no" all the above, check out GUE before
you make any choices.

No, I am not a GUE instructor, and I am also the "only" NSS/CDS instructor
(to the best of my knowledge) that told them to stick their card. If you
choose a NSS/CDS instructor you are rolling the dice in my own opinion. Yea,
yea, they will tell you about all the great things they have done, how good
they are, bla, bla, but you know jack about the real deal (cave diving), so
they expect you to believe this/them and "pay" money for such. Please don't
get me wrong, the NSS/CDS has some "very" good instructors, and if you do
your home work, you will also find out that most of these are also GUE
instructors.

Tod, don't shop for price, shop for training, period. In the NSS/CDS
instructor core you will find people that are obesely over-weight, have had
heart problems and surgery for such , bullshit you about the dives they have
done, are "not" full time cave divers (i.e. will teach anything for money)
and some should not even be open water divers, let alone instructors in my
own opinion (and many others).

You now have my insight, do the math, ask many questions of others, and make
a informed decision.

Signed

Bruic (former NSS/CDS Instructor)
