MACs have a lower TCO than any computer! It's also about as DIR as you can get. In fact, I think you have your wires crossed. DIR is more MAC-like in that it's got a small and devoted following, it's more sensibly and intelligently laid out. It's designed from the ground up to be fully integrated and user-friendly. On the other hand, Windoze is more like "personal preference" divers. The "rest" of the world dives non-DIR. Not designed at all, something that just happened over time as more and more crap got added onto the OS and the systemboards until crashing and Windows have become synonymous. A DIR-like diver is compliment, just like the phrase,"MAC-like" is. Who thinks "Windows-like" is a compliment? No one. It just happens to be the lowest common denominator that everyone else uses because, well, everyone else uses it. MAC and DIR, two systems of excellence that only the most discriminating and intelligent use! <g> Was this a diving or computer list? :-/ Later, JoeL Look at: http://www.execpc.com/~rjohnson/ics/features/cost.html And this long 1996 article that is still relevant and things are even better today: http://www.planetcast.com/mac-ammo/ammo/FrankPetrie1.html
