i had one of those lights about 4 years ago. leaked, when new, so i sent it back. aul told me nothing was wrong with it and returned it. i dove the light again, and it leaked (about 1" inside the canister). i returned the light again after calling and getting the "you must be a dumb f***" type attitude. they had it for about 8 weeks. after calling several times, i was told they had left the light sitting in the trough (about 3' of water) for 3 days and no leaking. they returned the light. well, i usually dives to depths incurring far greater pressures than 3' (but less than 3 days), so of course the light leaked again. sending it back to aul for a third or fourth time (i lost track) they finally found the problem- the plate that's glued to the bottom of the canister apparently didn't bond just right. the leak was small enough to elude the manufacturer and their superior testing. this type of small leak could also run up through the cord causing the lens to show condensation. with all of the trouble, i set the light on a fence post and shot it with a 12 gauge before buying an EE light (with a recessed bottom plate, among other things, and very friendly and fast service). i understand these aul lights are generally good lights, however, the very poor attitude i noticed at aul prevented me from buying another light or recommending one to anyone i dive with up here.
