Subject: Re: women and overhead diving
I have found that the Mental Disipline is everything.
So concerning "women" in this issue I will give a
brief; of 3 different women.

Diver 1. Good training and knows her limits and
never exceeds them, as she really does not care for cave diving.
However she does have her fovorite sites and will dive them.
Penetrations seldom exceed 1200' swiming. If she gets uncomfortable
she calls the dive. This is ok.

Diver 2. She is working on her Full Cave rating and we do dives
to gain her more experience. She is very eager and has a mind for the Math.
However she does tend to push a bit beyond her Training limitations and
I have to be the one who reminds her of these issues.

Diver 3. Has good abilities and solid knowledge, and eager to do complex dives.
However she tends to get to focused on the Math and add far to much
complexity prior to entering the water.

So while I seem to be bashing a bit here, I am merely pointing out
that these women divers are more quick to openly display their
Fears, apprehensions, and eagerness.
This lends to me the chance to call a dive prior to entering the water
or at any time during.

I have dove with guys who were out for the Bravado and did a great job
of masking their concerns, which led to a need to assist during a dive
or just calling one.

Yes I have been guilty of any of the above and luckily the only price
paid was the instructors fee. But the lesson learned was of far
more importance and benifit than a mere $500 and became a tremendous
turning point in my mental approach to diving.

Its all in the mind.
