Joe, I use helium for every dive I do, including Ginnie Springs if I were to dive there, which I do not. When I did dive there swimming to the Hinkle, I used 30% oxygen trimix, and did a ten minute safety stop in the eye, and when I scootered it on any gas, I did no deco at all. The only place it is smart to swim dive is Mexico. If I want to swim, I go to Masters and swim for real. If I am underwater, I do not want to see my heart rate go over 60 beats per minute. If your question is exertion vs no exertion for deco calc, the real answer lies in how much damage you did swimming with the equivalent of a car parked on all of your joints, and then how much hyperbaric oxygen it will take to "fix" that. The answer is don't do it. I like to explore cave and see some scenery. So do you. Can't do it where either one of us dive without several scooters, and a lot of bt. What are you doing at Ginnie, trying to get your gear stolen and embarrass yourself ? Joe, get with the program. If I were to do one dive in every one of the sinkholes that we have access to in the WKP , I would be Mount's age by the time I finished. You do not need stroke practide, you need stroke-free practice, as does anyone who really wants to play the game, and there is only one organization to do that with in Florida - the WKPP. Everything else is what it is - nothing.
