John, I have never seen that before, and I am Project Director of the WKPP. Either the knot is at the other end and is a square knot with the ends of the rope being a knot, or the top is a loop and the bottom is a clinch knot that is then burned at its ends. Return it and ask for another. I just bought some and put them on safety bottles and they were correct.
